It's the stuff dreams were made of. Five lads from North Dublin under the stewardship of a wannabe music manager from the west of Ireland pick themselves up from the Late Late Show studio floor and go on to achieve pop stardom both in Ireland and The UK.
So it shocks to hear this morning of the death of one of it's members, Stephen Gately at the tragically young age of 33. Gately not only was a successful member of the band but did much for gay people in Ireland when he came out during his time in the band. That could not have been an easy thing to do in this country with it's often out- dated Catholic believes.
Death so young is always hard to take. And one would hope that should there be a life after, then the peace you strived for in this life will be forever fulfilled there. Stephen Gately, RIP.
